The overriding mood for the Autumnal Man is one of change. Organisational change is but the external version.
If you work in a large organisation, change is an integral part of your life. Whether as instigator of said change or subject to it, it is always there. Sometimes for the better, oftentimes for the worse.
This comes at a time when you are undergoing great shifts in your personal circumstances. And with this amount of change comes disappointment. With disappointment comes addiction, the desire to escape.
The Importance of Change Management
Let’s have a look at why change management is important.
The reasons are very simple.
Organisational change management helps your staff and peers understand “Why”. Why they are going through a change process. The key to adult engagement is cognitive. If they understand why something is happening, they will generally support the change. If they do not, they will resist.
Paradoxically, the same goes for technical or IT change management. If your developers understand the “Why” they will do the work. For the business the same rationale as above, applies.
Like you, your organisation is going through changes in its life. And the people who staff your organisation are going through changes in their lives as well.
A lot of so-called “Resistance to Change” is that the proposed changes make no sense to the people affected. And with all the other changes going on for them, they might be no more than overwhelmed.
Why would you do that to your staff?
